Used for INVENTORY control, e.g., to prevent unnecessary re-ordering of ITEMS that are already on-hand.NOTE: You PLUS (+) a CASE going into BACK-STOCK, and MINUS (-) a CASE when it comes out—for example, if it goes to either the SHELF or onto a SALES RUNNER.

adj. Any ITEM—e.g., NEW, DISCONTINUED, etc.—for which no existing SPOT on the SHELF can be found.NOTE: Ask if you're at all unsure whether any Not-On-Shelf ITEMS might be NEW or DISCONTINUED.
If NEW, write “NEW” on the CASE and put it on the NEW ITEMS RACK in the GROCERY BACK ROOM.
If DISCONTINUED, write “DISC.” on the CASE and put it on the DISCONTINUED ITEMS SHELF on the RACK in the RECEIVING area.
If still unsure, write “N.O.S.” on the CASE and put it on the NEW ITEMS RACK in the GROCERY BACK ROOM. Someone else will eventually figure it out if it should be CUT IN, await the next RESET, or perhaps be marked-down by the RECEIVER as a DISCONTINUED ITEM.

If DISCONTINUED, write “DISC.” on the CASE and put it on the DISCONTINUED ITEMS SHELF on the RACK in the RECEIVING area.
